Day 4: Strömfors - Ankkapurha, about 49 km
As the day dawns and after breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to Strömfors and head north. The initial leg is on tarmac roads in an idyllic rural setting. The first point of interest is a typical 70s Gulf bar, which has retained the look of that era. A real retro destination. After this, a stretch of sandy road begins, which stretches almost all the way to Hirvikoski. The rapids themselves are one of the most beautiful on the Kymijoki River and are easy to explore from the bridge over the rapids. Halfway through the day's walk is the Kuovinkallio rest stop, where the cliffs overlook the labyrinthine Ahvionkoski rapids. As evening falls, you arrive in Ankkapurha, where you can enjoy a wide range of accommodation and cultural activities.
