Overview
Located in the heart of Strömfors Ironworks, Strömfors Bed & Bistro offers a cozy stay combining rustic charm with modern comfort. You’ll enjoy delicious seasonal meals made from local ingredients and relax in a peaceful historical setting surrounded by beautiful nature.
During this retreat, you’ll take part in a hands-on ceramics workshop, crafting your own unique clay creations. No prior experience is needed. On the first evening, you’ll focus on shaping the pieces, and the following morning, decorate them using engobe colors.
After the workshop, enjoy a delicious dinner, a relaxing sauna, and a refreshing dip in the Kymijoki River – the perfect way to unwind after a creative day.
Finished pieces will be glazed and fired at the LoviSavi ceramics studio in nearby Loviisa. They’ll be ready for pickup in 1–2 months or can be sent to you upon request.

Itinerary
Day 1
The day begins with arrival in the picturesque ironworks village in the afternoon. Accommodation is at the charming Strömfors Bed & Bistro in double rooms, located in the heart of Loviisa’s most beautiful cultural landscape. This historic hotel-restaurant beautifully combines the rustic atmosphere of the ironworks with modern comforts.
After check-in, the group heads to the workshop space, where the program begins under the guidance of LoviSavi’s ceramics instructor. During a brief theoretical introduction, guests will enjoy a light snack and sparkling wine. During the workshop, participants will create unique ceramic pieces from clay. No prior ceramics experience is required. Once the pieces are finished, they are left to dry for the next day’s painting session.
After the creative session, enjoy a delicious dinner at Strömfors Bed & Bistro’s restaurant. Following dinner, relax in the gentle warmth of the sauna and take a refreshing dip in the Kymijoki River – a perfect way to end a day of creativity.
Day 2
After a restful night’s sleep, the morning begins with a delicious breakfast. Following breakfast, the group moves to the workshop where the pieces created the previous evening will be decorated with engobe paints.
The shared program ends at 1 PM. Afterward, there is the opportunity to stay and explore the ironworks village and its charming restaurants and boutiques.

Strömfors Bed & Bistro is located in the idyllic Strömfors ironworks village, in the heart of Loviisa’s most beautiful cultural landscape. This historic hotel-restaurant combines the rustic atmosphere of the ironworks with modern comfort in a charming way. The hotel offers a peaceful accommodation option in spacious rooms year-round. The restaurant, focusing on local food, serves daily during the summer and by reservation in the winter. The breakfast, made from local products, is served in the manor’s dining hall, and during summer, on the garden-like terrace.
LoviSavi Ceramic Workshop
In the ceramic workshop, you can immerse yourself in the world of ceramics and shape unique pieces by hand-building with clay. No prior experience in ceramics is required. The creations are decorated with engobe paints, and their glazing and firing are done at the LoviSavi ceramic workshop in downtown Loviisa. The pieces can be picked up approximately 1–2 months after the retreat, or if needed, they can also be sent to participants.
